Maca-WHAT?!

WWHHAAT?! After what felt like two years of failures, I finally made a successful macaron with my friend. I'm pretty sure I've made every possible error from a runny batter, to feetless macarons, to cracked tops. I concluded a while back that baking is just not my thing...until my friend asked me the other day if I wanted to try and make macarons with her. To be honest, unlike ever other time I tried to whip up these cookies, I had no hope that these would turn out any good. She was also yet to make a good macaron so we combined our failures, followed Beth's full-proof recipe and came out with these cute, delicious gems.

We had a little fun with the decorating for these two, but the rest we just filled with some nutella. There's still more to perfect- a smoother top, and maybe a more circular shape, but I'm happy to say these               cookies had a nice chewy middle with a crunchy rim- perfect to any macaron-lover's liking.

Heads Up Seven Up

Okay so I have this problem where I keep telling myself that next week I'm going to spend more time on my pictures....but Sunday comes so fast so I always end up with stuff like this. -______-
Alright I've decided I'm still going to post every Sunday but until I'm settled into summer, it's not going to be too great.

I didn't use a recipe for this because it's so simple-frozen watermelons, 7-up and a touch of honey. Just blend em all together. The frozen watermelons serve as ice and basically add the soda until you get just the amount of slush wanted. On a hot summer day...this is like THE BEST. It's not too thick like a smoothie, and it doesn't take much ingredients.

Great editing skills I know...give me a break finals is coming up x)

Nothing More....

I love croquis. People find them creepy, weird, or just a bad expression of the human body. But that's the thing-it's not real, it's a fantasy, and each one can tell its own story. When I was thinking about what to post this week, I originally planned to create a line, and sketch out the outfits...but I'm here with the same excuse-I was so caught up in school, I just couldn't make the time for it. (Thank God there's just a couple more weeks) Anyways, I was trying to do a really quick sketch, but there was no way anything was worthy enough to post...I think I was inspired by the 70s...but I'm not sure. Is this even 70s fashion? What even happened in the 70s? I love studying fashion through time, but I haven't done enough research on the 70s and I don't want to post false information lacking inspiration. But that's the thing about art, right? A masterpiece isn't simply created, because then it wouldn't be a masterpiece. This isn't a masterpiece. It doesn't have a complete story. I guess you can call it a rough draft..or just a crumpled idea...nothing more. It's hard to grasp a thought sometimes. Inspiration comes in bits and pieces. Ideas come and go.

Please Don't Pinch Us

I know it's not the best picture quality, but I'm still saving up for a camera.

So for memorial weekend my family spent the day at Abalone Cove in PV. This is the crazy Asian family that can't do anything normal during a gathering-I mean, come on, we had a money piƱata for Christmas. x) While half the family enjoyed the ocean breeze of Southern California's beautiful beaches, the others went crab hunting. They came back with a bucket full of crabs, to which we ended up racing. Crabs were chosen by rock, paper, scissors, and the last crab to reach the waters treats everyone to shaved ice. I would put a picture of the shaved ice..if I wasn't asleep while they ate it. -_____-

Beneath the Shadows

Shadow photography is one of the coolest techniques I've learned in the digital world. I slightly adjusted the brightness/contrast on Photoshop, but that's about it. I just played with different shadows to create this effect. There is no deep meaning behind this photo. It's left for creativity-tell your own story.
