My heart is so full, but it's been rough. The uncertainty of where I'll be after graduation has been haunting me more and more—something that I actually haven't been concerned about throughout my college career. I'm not worried about getting a job or anything, just scared for the decision I will have to make.

Anyways, I'm a little disappointed I wasn't able to do anything in the outdoors, but March has a lot in store for that!

One thing that I've been doing better throughout February is not being too hard on myself on my creative work. In the past, it would take me a long time to get over my artistic insecurities, making me drag out my projects. This Valentine's Day, I decided to make a giant Snorlax doll. Ali's been jokingly? asking me to make it. And to be honest, I was never going to make it. But part of my wanted to show off my skills that I've worked really hard on the last decade, and another part of me just wanted to make something spontaneously. So, I kind of just went for it.

I mean is this not the cutest thing ever!! I had to take a selfie with it to show how really big this is. I haven't made something like this in a really long time, and I was kind of surprised at how good it came out. I realized the skills I've learned from graphic design and sewing go hand-in-hand. Figuring out how to make Snorlax was very similar to figuring out the configuration for a packaging design. I'm probably way too proud of this, but now I'm super excited for other things I will be making in the future.

So, I realized I don't really have any photos from my 22nd, birthday. I didn't do much, but it was a sweet day—all my best friends called me or sent me gifts, and my work surprised me with a bombass chocolate cake. Also, it snowed and school was canceled. Thanks to everyone who makes life worth celebrating!

Lastly, February was a difficult month for me because I lost the love of my life. Sandi/Snoodle/Soondae/Arenita/Poopy/Geumsini, my precious little puppers, you meant the world to me. The way she brought joy to every person who came across her really inspires me. I still remember the day we drove all the way to Ontario with Dad and Katie, and I felt really strongly about picking Sandi specifically because she looked like a little runt. All her sisters were jumping up and down, and they were trampling over her. What's crazy is that Sandi's been in my life only 2 years less than my dad was. She was a pain in the ass, but she was our little pain in the ass.

Her last few moments were really heartbreaking, but I'm glad she isn't in pain anymore. Sandi, thank you for making my childhood so amazing, and for being the best dog that no one ever deserves. I love you.
Although this month was filled with a lot of brokenness, pain, and tears, my heart is fuller than ever.

I love the process of picking out that one fundamental photo that represents my entire experience, and pairing the photo with some sort of witty caption. I've been pretty good with not letting social media be a toxic environment to myself, but this year I wanted to focus on being much more intimate with describing the places I've been, the people I've met, and the unexpected happenings that will inevitably come upon me.

January 3rd, 2019
Erica flew in to Philadelphia from LAX. Her flight landed at 5am, and I didn't get much sleep because Ali had been sick since New Years day, and he wasn't feeling any better. I picked up Erica, we came back to my apartment, and then we knocked out for a few hours. I went to check in on Ali around noon, and told Erica I would be back in a few minutes. But we ended up at the emergency room and I left Erica alone for several hours. Erica and I have been there for each other for some of our lowest lows and greatest highs, and I'm so grateful for how patient she was, despite only being in Philly for a couple of days.

After Ali finally got admitted, I picked up Erica and we got some Dalessandro's cheesesteaks and Checker's fries. We did some shopping, I found a ski outfit for $12, picked up Ali from the hospital, stopped by H-mart to get food for our trip the next day, picked up Ali's medicine, dropped it back off at his place, then headed home.

But I still owed Erica a good time, so I put my dumbass emotional and exhausted feelings aside, and we went out to a dive bar! Yea, that definitely wasn't our scene. We left the bar and went to a sport's bar instead. On the way to Chickie's and Pete's, we had a really fun conversation with our lyft driver. His name was either Elvis or Sher, I don't remember, but he was from the DR, and Erica whipped out her Spanish skills with him. There wasn't any game on when we got to the bar, but it was honestly so nice having a friend who enjoys the same things that I do. I get really lonely in Philly not having anyone who enjoys the same outings as me, so seeing Erica once a year is very refreshing.

January 4th, 2019
Erica and I left Philly around 10am, got some Beiler's donuts, and headed for Jim Thorpe. Hiking with Erica is one of my favorite things ever because she knows what she's doing, and she doesn't complain!! The trail was really hard to read, and it involved a lot of crossing freezing, rushing water, climbings rocks, and second-guessing our directional decisions.

Ali called me during our hike, and he wasn't feeling too well, but he told me he was fine. I felt really anxious the rest of the day after that call because something felt really off...

But nonetheless, after the hike, Erica and I spontaneously decided to explore Jim Thorpe! The cute little town is filled with Trump supporters, but we found a sweet elderly lady who owned a toy shop, and she was hilariously liberal. We sampled some jerky, did a free wine tasting, and ate some ice cream. Then it was off to the slopes!

Blue Mountain Resort is GORGEOUS, and I wanted this to finally be the time where I can carve down the hill! Usually, I can suck it up and face my fears, but my anxiety was through the roof, and every time I fell, I started to feel scared for Ali.

On the drive back to Philly, Ali called me and told me he had been in the hospital all day. To be honest, I thought I finally made peace with my dad's death, but I didn't realize how triggering the hospital still was for me. I had to drop off Erica at my apartment, and then picked up Ali from the hospital. After I took him home, I took Erica to another sports bar!

January 5th 2019
I took Erica to visit Drexel's medical school, we visited the PMA, got ramen, then took her back to the airport. As crazy as those 3 days were, it's honestly what my life has become, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

2018 was an interesting year, and I've done more throughout the year than I could have ever imagined doing in a lifetime. It's been a long time coming, but I've really learned how to fight for my happiness this past year. I have no idea how 2019 is going to be, and to be honestly, I'm completely terrified and excited at the same time. I decided to get back to writing more about my adventures, and wanted to stay away from Instagram as the platform to do so. I'm hoping by the end of the year, I'll be able to create a book of my accomplishments throughout the year. I'll probably keep the "blog" more formal so that I can turn my stories into an actual book. But who knows, I never actually go through with any of my passion projects lmao.

In the meantime, here are my 2019 resolutions!

Do something creative every day, and keep track of it. I bought a notebook a few months ago that was supposed to keep track of my projects, but since I never used it (oops), I'll use that as a space to record my creative doings for the day. Today is January 1st, and I spent the entire day with the boyfriend, so I'll consider this blogpost my creative session for the day.

Make a decision on post-grad life. Figure out what you want, and make a decision for yourself, but understand that most of your happiness comes from the people you surround yourself with.

Keep up the weekly and monthly goals! It's been really helpful for me to write down my thoughts and see how I've been growing little by little. This is something I did well throughout 2018, and I want to continue through the new year.

And of course, all is subject to change! It's going to be a hard year, I already know it, but I hope to find the little joys in each day to make it an overall unforgettable year. WOOHOO, let's do this. It's okay to be afraid...relax...take a breath....and here we go...

It has come to my attention that several people have found my blog by googling me, and so I took a break from sharing anything personal on here and documented my thoughts in my Shinola notebook. And as much as I love handwritten trinkets, I can never write as fast as I type, Plus, I missed posting photos here.

A lot has happened since I've last written, and as much as I think it could benefit me to write down all my thoughts, I think I'm going to pass. So, sorry future me, but if you're reading this and don't remember what I'm talking about, maybe that's a good thing.

Anyways, here are some pictures from my trip to Seattle/Vancouver! These are two cities I have been really wanting to go to for a while now, and I didn't think I'd get to go so soon. Katie just graduated, and we don't know when we would get another chance, so after a long drought, our family went on our first trip without Dad.

This may be the most important post on my blog yet. So on March 30th, 2017 at 11:57 pm, I got a phone call from the one and only Kim Hunter. I missed the call at first because I was sleeping. When I looked at the number, for some reason I felt like I missed an important phone call, but I can't make out why. I started to google the phone number to see if anything would pop up, but there was nothing. And just as I was about to go back to sleep, Kim Hunter left me a voicemail. I called him back to get the news—I won The LAGRANT Foundation scholarship and I will be flying to GMC in Detroit at the end of May!

This scholarship means that I am now financially stable for the rest of this year, and I can focus completely on school! It is all so surreal right now. I can't believe that just two years ago I was crying in a small closet at Curry House because I thought I couldn't afford college. What a journey it's been.

But wait, there's more. So I've been talking to Kim back and forth the past few days, and he is determined to get me employed for my co-op! Let me say that I don't know a single person in this world who has more connections than Kim, so this is HUGE.

Okay, so here is the biggest news... Kim promised to help me get my dream job, but if it doesn't work out, he is offering me a position at his agency in Los Angeles! SO IT'S OFFICIAL. I'm beginning my move back to California starting this June so that I'll be completely settled and ready to work by September.

Where I will be working is still a mystery, but I'm so excited to see what will unravel in the next few months. This is it. God is good.Michelle Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02143235363795491682noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1576093546482109801.post-83628882025433402322017-03-21T16:57:00.002-07:002017-03-21T16:57:53.342-07:00Back At It

Here is another airport post! I'm so excited to be flying home for spring break because I wasn't able to last year. I'm so thankful for God for providing me with a ridiculously cheap plane ticket that happens to be the exact number of days that I can get off from work while perfectly matching with my finals schedule. It's going to be a really short amount of time, but it will be a really good mental break for me.

Airports are my favorite place to reflect and realize how incredibly blessed I am. It has been a crazy term, and it's crazy to see how much I have grown in the past two and a half months. This quarter was filled with a lot of failures, but also many accomplishments that I didn't know I was capable of... I finally consider myself a designer! Not having enough artistic skills has been my greatest insecurity the past few years. And although it is something I still struggle with, I finally took my first step into embracing it, and I can't wait to see how much more I'll grow as a designer throughout the years.

18 minutes till boarding....

I'm so proud of myself for coming to the airport early. I'm getting so old freaking out about time now haha.

Anyways...I'm just blabbering. I shouldn't be so vague in these posts because I want to be able to remember how I felt when I looked back at them. Oh well...I'm going to go and relax for now.

Taco Sin here I come. :DMichelle Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02143235363795491682noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1576093546482109801.post-23859435993120773932017-01-01T15:40:00.002-08:002017-01-01T15:40:26.129-08:00ResolutionsI don't think I ever made New Years Resolutions. But if I did, I definitely did not even attempt to stick to them. This year is a little different; I am feeling extra ambitious and I want to be able to look back at my goals and see how I did following through. So hello Michelle at the end of 2017, these are the changes I hope you made some effort on! And by that I mean, YOU BETTER HAVE DONE THEM ALL.

Lifestyle Goals:

Spend at least 30 minutes each day honing on various artistic skills. For 2017, focus on these three crafts: drawing, digital media knowledge, and hand typography.

Read and write more! Listen to at least 30 minutes of an audio book or podcast every day.

Exercise. You are at an all time low with physical laziness. Don't be afraid to start working out because you are so behind, we all have to start somewhere.

Spiritual Goals:

2016 was rough spiritually, but I always believe that difficult times make you stronger. That being said, I don't want to be stuck in this spiritual hole forever. You've been lost for a while, fell into way too many temptations, and haven't learned as much as you thought you would. Go out of your comfort zone and never stop praying.

Relationship Goals:

Avoid using the phrases, I'm too tired, I don't have time, I don't have money. This one is going to be hard, but you really need to start filtering these excuses out of your mind.

Appreciate everyone in your life. Send thank you letters and happy birthdays IMMEDIATELY! Don't push it off for later because every time you do that you end up forgetting.

My resolutions are pretty general, so I am hoping to create daily and weekly goals to push me to improve myself on these resolutions. (My passion planner has been helping me A LOT with this actually)

So here we go...another 365 days. That's 365 days to do some amazing things...

Michelle Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02143235363795491682noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1576093546482109801.post-43983635250312972552016-12-31T18:32:00.004-08:002016-12-31T21:34:56.571-08:00Kiss the Year GoodbyeYO HO YO HO
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE.

Before I post my New Years resolutions I wanted to reflect on this past year. Throughout 2016 I constantly found myself thinking, this is too hard... I don't want to do this anymore. Life would throw one obstacle after another and it always felt like the earth was pulling pranks on me. Like why does it need to start pouring rain when it's already been a horrible day? So dramatic.

But about a month back I had a realization that 2016 has actually been my best year yet. Life on Earth is always going to be difficult, and the moment I began to understand that it will always get harder, I learned to cherish every single moment, the highs and the lows.

Soooo as an appreciation post for 2016, here is a list of many awesome things I accomplished/experienced/learned this year!

I opened my first etsy shop and got quickly bored of it.

I celebrated my first birthday away from home.

I had a $200 sushi meal with Alison sponsored by my amazing cousin.

One of my best friends got on a plane for her very first time, left California (also for her very first time), and visited me for Spring Break.

We took a 2-day trip to New York where we went to a set location of a TV show Jasmine really likes.

I booked my first Air BnB place and it was the worst experience ever. (Dumb things I do to save money)

I won my first merit-based scholarship. I didn't realize this until I went to the scholarship reception, where it was evident that not all the recipients there had financial needs.

They flew me out to Atlanta, Georgia and paid for my hotel and meals.

Coca Cola sponsored the event and gave me a personal Coca Cola bottle with my name printed on it.

I cried on a plane. Not because I was 3 months old and screaming from God-knows-what. But because I learned the value of home and how much people really mean to me.

I took a road trip to San Francisco with some friends.

I got to stay overnight at my friend's house that Google was paying for.

I visited Google's headquarters.

I flew to Arizona and spent 3 days at the home of the CEO and founder of my favorite non-profit organization.

I visited the headquarters of my favorite non-profit organization.

I became the Pennsylvania Youth Ambassador of my favorite non-profit organization.

I learned to ride a horse.

I went to Italy with 3 of the most incredible people in my life, where we learned to love and hate each other in so many ways.

I went to a Ludovico Einaudi at Renzo Pianos' Auditorium Parco della Musica where I was nearly convinced that I was dreaming.

I got bombarded by men claiming they were Colombian as they danced towards me and my friend to seductive music.

I saw in person masterpieces by Michelangelo, Giotto, Parmigianino, Brunlleschi, Ghiberti, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, okay pretty much every Ninja Turtle and Italian Renaissance artist.

I had gelato almost every day.

I was homeless for two nights.

I learned to discover a new country's language and culture without phone data (I highly recommend trying this actually).

I went to the Motherland for the 2nd time, but first time without my family.

I lived with my mom's aunt for some time, where I was able to learn more about the world my mom comes from. I went to one of the most sentimental place of my mom's childhood and there was something beautifully haunting about it.

I learned that my grandma is an amazing sewer and we had so much fun crafting together!

I got on my longest flight yet (16 hours) where my chair did not recline.

I slept at an airport... on the ground...twice.

I got literally the most convenient job I could have at this time.

I had my first real company dinner where they paid for our three course meal, twice.

My managers cooked us a Thanksgiving meal.

I paid my own rent for the first time.

I moved into my first apartment.

I got my first credit card and just applied for my second one.

I got robbed $1000 from Zipcar but learned why I should always invest in better insurance.

My sister, Grace, and Amber visited me in Philly.

Grace came again and so I wasn't lonely on Thanksgiving.

I cooked a horrible Friendsgiving dinner cause I suck at cooking.

I won a total of 5 private scholarships, for a sum of $9,500.

I went to a Sia concert!

I had my first critique where people said my work was their favorite.

I bought Creative Cloud!

I lost count of my all-nighters.

I went to nrb and Love Letter every time I went home.

Okay, I am going to stop there haha. I can seriously go forever. I am so grateful for the people who made this year so special for me. I don't have a lot of friends, but the few who stick by me are more than enough. Comparing this year's reflection to last year clearly shows how much I've grown in just one year. 2017 is going to be an interesting one....and I am so. damn. excited.

Nothing is more convenient than walking ten steps and finding a place to eat that is worthy of high yelp reviews. Although Korea doesn't use yelp, the endless rows of great restaurants make up for it. Plus, it makes eating out much more adventurous.

After failed attempts to go to some of the restaurants on our list, Sheena and I found this gem in Hongdae! I think this place was called something Deli which was very unrelated to the food they served. Honestly Koreans probably just found the name "Deli" cute.

On October 21st, 2016 I had the amazing opportunity to watch Sia perform in same spot I witnessed Kobe Bryant play one year ago.

For those who do not know, Kobe Bryant is my "work ethic role model," while Sia is the embodiment of the artist I strive to be. So, to be able to watch both of them live (and in the same place, too!) has been a dream.

I am not a big music person, and it is actually Sia's position as an artist that empowers me. Her work is incredible, and her concert could be described as an immense interactive art installation.

Anyways, Thank you Sia for inspiring me an artist.Michelle Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02143235363795491682noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1576093546482109801.post-25619635475389504902016-07-30T21:53:00.002-07:002016-07-30T21:53:43.960-07:00Arrivederci ItaliaI'm currently at the Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Roma, waiting for my plane to Seoul. It's my first time sleeping at an airport and it is my shift to guard our stuff as my friends sleep. (We took some clothes out of our luggage and made ourselves comfortable on the floor. Hehe, sorry Mom!)

I've been so busy seeing Italy that I didn't get to blog as much as I planned, but at least I kept myself busy throughout!

Reflecting back on my trip, I realized how much I love language and culture. Knowing a little bit of Spanish made picking up Italian much easier, and seeing the Natives giggle at my attempt to communicate with them always brightened up my mood.

Anyways, here's a long post of a short summary of an amazing two weeks in Italy.

Shortly after making it to Florence, we took a day trip back to Rome to go to a Ludovico Einaudi piano concert. Under the moonlight, classy musical lovers gathered in an outdoor auditorium to hear the live music of this great musician. During one of his pieces, rain began to gently drizzle over the audience. I closed my eyes as I felt the raindrops dance to the sound of each key tapping on the strings of the grand piano. Even thought I'm usually not a fan of this genre of music, the magical ambience convinced me to fall in love.

The concert ended around 11 p.m. and our bus back to Florence wasn't until 6 a.m. so we waited outside the bus terminal and it was cold and miserable. Hehe.

I've mentioned earlier that the food in Italy is nothing to rave about, but there was one place that stood out to me. We found an expensive, organic/vegan bar and restaurant that we went into just to get wifi for directions. The smoothies we ordered made me feel very at home because it was definitely a treat for California tastebuds. And by that I mean it tasted way too healthy. But I loved it. My friends not so much haha.

I've also made it a goal to eat McDonalds every time I visit a new country and order something from the menu that they only offer there. They give beer with their meals here!

One of my favorite Renaissance paintings: Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. It's really all the Renaissance art that made me most excited to visit Italy. That being said, while I was at the Uffizi Gallery, a young boy walked up to Giotto's Madonna Enthroned and ran his fingers across the 700 year old painting. A piece of my heart broke that day.

The amazing Duomo designed by the even more amazing Brunelleschi, seen from Giotto's Campanile. The 414 steps to climb this tower was hell after the 463 steps we climbed in the duomo. The small, beautiful town of San Gimignano, about an hour and a half away from Florence. This photo REALLY does not do this place justice. But that's kind of my fault for bringing a prime lens to this day trip. This city has one of the best views of endless green fields and the homes that decorate the hills are adorable. San Gimignano is kind of the picture perfect place you imagine when you think of Europe. That being said, I don't have any picture perfect photos. LOL

Of course the best is saved for last. My visit to Cinque Terre was the most anticipated trip. Costal views will win my heart any day, and the colorful houses on the cliff make you instantly fall in love. We were able to visit all five towns (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso) in one day, and even squeezed in Pisa right before.

We ended up leaving so late, the train back was only running once an hour. When we finally got to the next train station around 11:30 p.m, there weren't any more trains running back to Florence until 4:43 a.m. We waited sort of miserably in the cold, dirty streets in the middle of nowhere, and when we finally got on the train back, we got caught for not having a ticket. (From our experiences, we never had our tickets checked before. Since it was our last day in Italy and we were pretty much broke, we decided to just hop on.) It sucked to pay a fine but that's okay we kind of deserved it haha.

We finally made it back to our home in Florence around 8 a.m.
Had to leave our home by 11 a.m.
Then wait for our bus back to Rome which was delayed from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
Made it to the airport around 7:30 p.m.
It is now 6:40 a.m. and I am waiting for my 4 hour flight which leaves at 12:40 p.m. and arrives in Moscow.
AND FINALLY: a 9 hour flight to Seoul.

So I'm pretty exhausted right now, but the thrill of traveling makes it all worth it.

That's it for now! My time in Italy is coming to a close and as much as I loved it here, my heart is ready to move on to the next country!

Gratzie, Italia. Arrivederci!
The other day I spent my very first day in Italy by myself! After traveling several days with my friends, I took a trip alone so that I could explore this beautiful country at my own pace. I first walked around for about an hour, people-watching at the crowded tourist destination of Ponte Vecchio. Then after endless hills that I regretted climbing (at the time) I found the beautiful Bardini Gardens.

I am currently traveling without a laptop so my blogging is being done on my phone...which is kind of limited. <strike>Note to self: fix all formatting and add photos when possible.</strike>

My time in Roma has concluded. Yes, I still can't believe that I am in Italy. But somehow by the grace of God and a few extremely loving friends, this has all become possible. For two and a half weeks, I have the privilege of walking down the streets of a country I only dreamed of visiting. For the past year, I've been traveling all around the US, but as much as I love my home soil, I'm even more excited to say that I've stepped foot on European territory!

After spending 5 days in this majestic, historic city, it has occurred to me that I probably could never do a backpacking trip throughout Europe. Maybe it is just my passion for Renaissance art, but I am overwhelmed with how much there is to see and even a couple weeks limits my time here.

Arrival: After about 22 hours of traveling, Hannah and I finally landed in Rome! Our homestay was about 25 minutes away from the airport and we accidentally took an illegal taxi. Whoops. Making foreigner mistakes as soon as we got there...hehe. Praise the Lord for watching over us LOL. Our homestay mom was extremely nice and prepared breakfast for us each morning. I'm not going to lie...Italy isn't really known for its food (especially coming from a Californian).

Colosseo and Palatino: I know it sounds cliche but the Colosseum is definitely my FAVORITE piece in Rome. I was absolutely blown away by the architecture, and it is definitely something you must see in person. The inside is quite fascinating as well, but my favorite view is from the Palatino! The Palatino is filled with beautiful Roman ruins. I love walking through the broken columns, wondering what kind of people once walked through the towering empire.

Vatican: To get to the Vatican, Michelle and I left the house at 7 am, got lost a little, and made it to the back of the line at 8:45 am. The doors don't open until 9 and the line already wrapped around the Vatican walls. We finally got into the museum at around 11 and yes I would say the line was worth it... Well only if you're into Renaissance art...haha. I put my camera away while I was at the museum so I can admire all the art so I don't have many photos. Each room was decorated from floor to ceiling with detailed paintings that told stories and intricate patterns that made me wonder. Of course we ended with the Sistine Chapel where I got to see the works of Michelangelo, Perugino, Botticelli and more up close. All the paintings were so much bigger than I imagined, and just being able to sit in such a holy grail in history was an honor.

Anyways, Rome has been amazing, and as Serena Van der Woodson put it: "a summer in Rome? That sounds like a dream."
This was the first time I was ever flown out somewhere with all expenses paid, and to be honest I am still in disbelief of all that has happened. Let me just say that Atlanta is a BEAUTIFUL city. Anyways...

The first night started with a welcome dinner at the CNN headquarters. They provided us with a three course steak dinner as I feasted with 40 graduate and undergraduate visionaries all across the nation.

Throughout the next three days, I had the privilege of speaking to representatives from large corporations including the VP of Communications at Verizon, Coca Cola, Aflac, and more. I got to see the office space of various advertising and marketing agencies like Porter Novelli and BBDO.

I don't know what I did to deserve this experience, especially seeing how innovating and inspiring all the other scholarship recipients were. But these peers have emboldened me to use my gifts to give back to the world. We may be young and few, but we have the capabilities to change the world. This journey is not going to be easy, and I will definitely fail more times than I succeed, but I am so ready for it.

So I have lots of exciting ideas and projects planned, but knowing me, it's going to be forever before I post anything about it hohoho.

BUT ANYWAYS...

So as a Graphic Designer (in training) one thing I constantly remind myself is that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. From designing to printing to laser cutting, this project was a pain in the ass. Nonetheless I had a lot of fun with it!

I've been really insecure about my abilities to design and create, but it has only motivated me to work even harder. I've been hesitant to post my artwork because I don't feel confident about any of it, but I decided to overcome that insecurity by sharing my work whether I love it or hate it.

So here is a set of pattern notecards inspired by Sia!

Ta Ta for now <3

This set of photos is very misleading. They're photos from my last Bible study with GCC this year, and possibly, forever. We're just a couple of Jesus freaks drinking orange juice from solo cups, dead tired from school, and singing praise.

Something became very clear to me on Monday, and my life has never felt more clear. On Tuesday, everything became a blur, and my life has never felt so lost.

It's been a while since I posted anything. Sorry to come back on such a depressing note.Michelle Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02143235363795491682noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1576093546482109801.post-81715524050991718682016-02-12T14:07:00.002-08:002016-02-12T14:07:40.047-08:00Old City, New Friends

So I've been doing pretty good at not spending money on food this quarter, but I had to break that rally for a class assignment. This is cultural excursion part two! My group picked Old City because...I don't know why.

Unlike my last culture excursion where we walked around Northern Liberties and actually explored it, this time we were just eager to eat. We ended up hitting up Mac's Tavern just because it was close.

For appetizer we shared sweet potato fries that were covered in cinnamon sugar and a sweet glaze. It was kind of sugar overload and a bit too sweet for an appetizer. Nonetheless, the Korean in me loves any sweet potato dish, so yum.

Classic burger and fries. This wasn't my dish but ugh I hate spending this much money on burgers. Seriously, where the In n Outs and Habits at?

I got the chicken wrap because it was a special that day, meaning it was $2 off. I actually really liked it. The chicken was tender, it wasn't too saucy, and it was filling. Kind of tasted like a McWrap but more fresh.

Apparently Chase Utley was at this restaurant on opening day! I don't think anyone really cared when I shared that during my presentation, but as a Dodger girl, I was pretty excited.
We went to Franklin Fountain for dessert and I realized that it's really not that worth it if you just want a classic flavor like strawberry. Oh well. Still good.

This will probably be my last food adventure in Philly for the quarter.
I say Philly 'cause I'm headed to New York in about an hour.
But seriously, okay no more spending money until Jasmine comes...
I don't know if it's a Philly thing or an East Coast thing, but sushi doesn't seem to be a big thing here. It's harder to find and it's just as expensive, but definitely not as good as back home. I guess that's a good thing for me though because it prevents me from blowing all my money on it. I finally got the yummy Pornado Sushi that I've been craving for a while. It's not a traditional sushi roll, but it's still sososo good. The chef also made us a cute bear out of an orange. I think it's normally for kids but I really wanted it...hehe.
My last night at home I had a fresh, warm churro at the beach. I love the churro man because he reminds me of my old co-workers. And he's always super nice and sometimes even talks to me in Korean! I started practicing my Spanish with him this last time.

I won't be going back home for six months(the longest I've ever been away from home) so I didn't feel too guilty about splurging on all this food.

I'm not a huge fan of taking pictures of boba, but this was so cute with it's festive red and green boba. I THINK this flavor was tootea fruitea but I'm not 100% sure.

This is the star of the show that I waited 3 months for. Even though I don't eat poke very often, I crave it the most while I'm in school. This was spicy mayo poke from Poke Etc. My friends and I all agree this isn't the best, most tender fish, but I was definitely satisfied. Poke is still poke! The owner was super nice and let us sample all the different types of poke, Like WHAAAT?! So yummy...I want some now. :-(

So I never made it to Love Letter this break, but Mr. Pizza is just as good! The rest of my family aren't too crazy about Korean pizza, but I LOOOOVVVEEEEE it way more than American pizza. (tbh I love any pizza) You can't order Korean pizza if you don't order it gold. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but they put a lot of work into their pizzas. This is Mr. Pizza's "potato gold" pizza which was topped with bacon, potato slices, mushroom, onions, crushed doritos, and I think sour cream...and of course the crust was stuffed with sweet potatoes.

I love love love paninis! This caprese sandwich was from Panini Di Ambra on Hollywood Blvd. Value wise I was a little disappointed because it was a bit pricey. But for some reason they gave me a free salad even though I didn't pay for it, so yay! (It was still yummy)
The first time my friends and I went to HoneyMee, we drove through traffic up to LA, spent a long time looking for parking, and were a little disappointed. It's kind of pricey for ice cream that is comparable to McDonalds'. But since they opened up one near my house, it's a good place to casually go with friends. Here I got the coffee milk shake.
Because I won't be able to come home again until June, time is precious.
The first place I hit up was...Chinatown! I actually never eat Chinese food in Chinatown. I LOVVVEEEEE cajun/creole food and my aunt/uncle discovered this place for my birthday this past year. I've been craving it for a while now, so it was the perfect way to kick off my winter break food adventures.

One thing I love about this place is that they have lots of cute soda pops! I know Hubert's Lemonade is a classic that you can get from a lot of places, but...whatever.

So I'm waiting for my flight at PHL and I still can't believe that I go to school in the east coast. It's crazy how going to cities like Boston and New York have become casual weekend trips. Funny actually...DJ and I were talking about how we never met up in LA after he moved an hour away. And now that he lives 7 hours away, we decide to hang out. I just feel so far from everyone back at home, I'll jump at any excuse to meet up with my California friends. Plus, I'm not going to say no to a trip to Boston.
