From the Chandelier

Hello Hello!

So I have lots of exciting ideas and projects planned, but knowing me, it's going to be forever before I post anything about it hohoho.

BUT ANYWAYS...

So as a Graphic Designer (in training) one thing I constantly remind myself is that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. From designing to printing to laser cutting, this project was a pain in the ass. Nonetheless I had a lot of fun with it!

I've been really insecure about my abilities to design and create, but it has only motivated me to work even harder. I've been hesitant to post my artwork because I don't feel confident about any of it, but I decided to overcome that insecurity by sharing my work whether I love it or hate it.

So here is a set of pattern notecards inspired by Sia!

Ta Ta for now <3

Popecation

Papal weekend is coming to a close. =-(  As much as I love a busy city, I'm really going to miss the quiet streets....and the 4 day weekend.

So.....what went down this weekend?

I finished my very first design project! Took over 12 hours to finish.... aannddd I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I know this is only the first of many many many stressful assignments, but nonetheless, I'm super excited!

Blocked roads call for a photoshoot. This is right after Shirley and I rented bikes and rode through UPenn's beautiful campus.

LASTLY.....HUGE shoutout to Susanna and Christina for the home-cooked meal! Such a blessing to have amazing friends taking care of us freshies.

I miss you SheenBeans.

Flower Power

May 1st, 2015. On this day I officially completed my two 8 month projects of the year—my school's fashion show and yearbook. But since the yearbook is currently printing, today I'm going to focus on the fashion show.

Even though my collection wasn't very complicated or anything, I've never experienced this amount of stress from sewing. I think it was a combination of my clothes not fitting my models properly, my clothes not looking how I wanted it to, and a lot of distraction and procrastination. But to be fair, this was my first time making so many different types of clothing tailored to different body parts...it's really all a learning process.

I can rant on and on about how stressful it was to prepare for the show. But in the end...I really enjoyed it. I love being up on stage in general. And as I walked down the runway to "Shut up and Dance" all the worries of the past 8 months were forgotten.

I've really learned so much from doing this show. Maybe I spend a little TOO much time on detail...all the detail no one notices on stage. As I raced time, I learned to ignore the tiny flaws in my pieces. But since the show is over now...I'm really excited to start on projects...for myself (as selfish as that sounds)...where I have all the time in the world to focus on detail.

Okay nothing I made in this post made sense....there's just too much to talk about.....

I don't think I'll ever stop sewing. But in terms of my fashion career...it has come to a close. =]
And if I had the chance....I would do it all over again.

Well maybe this isn't the end but we'll see.

Renegade Up and Down

Due to a two week trip to San Francisco, I've been pretty absent from my blog. But because of all the right timings, I was lucky enough to go to my first craft show outside of LA-Renegade San Francisco! This event was held at Fort Mason Center, right by the waters shared with Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bride.I got the chance to meet new vendors and catch up with the ones I've met before =]

This time I didn't get too much info on the actual sellers themselves, so I don't really have links to these shops. =[ (I was too busy looking around, excited being in a new city)
One of the most unique shops I ran into, my friend actually pointed out, was this one where the artist made jewelry and intricate, decorative pieces out of drum cymbals. Now that I write this I wish I talked to them more about the labor behind all the art...I suddenly want to learn more haha.

Drum cymbals are definitely not easy to mold, nor are they easy to get a hold of in terms of supplies, so I have a lot of respect for the creator! ^^

Some random shop. Sells these cute stuff.

Oh yea I forgot to mention that this is my first Renegade show. Honestly, I don't know what's better than a free photo booth! I took this picture when I went out for a breath of air...the little snippet of that island is actually the one and only... Alcatraz!

And here's a picture capturing San Francisco winds. I'm usually a SoCal sun kind of person...but after falling in love with SanFran...I don't know if I can survive LA's weather anymore >.<

So that's pretty much it. I actually went to Renegade LA today but because it was so hot, I just chilled at Starbucks after a little while. To my surprise, a good percentage of the vendors were the same ones by the Bay. Still, it's always fun to meet the new vendors, or just shop in a different environment.
